چکیده
Introduction Understanding patient preferences and the demand for healthcare interventions technology is critical health assessment (HTA). New technologies have potential savings increased efficiency but even most cost-effective efficacious can fail if are not properly accounted for. Patient in HTA primarily limited to representation appraisal committees; however, more robust methods available should be incorporated into of interventions. Methods Using data from three discrete choice experiments (DCEs), we reflect on importance design We draw insights studies which investigated relating HIV self-testing amongst long distance truck drivers Kenya; differentiated antiretroviral therapy services stable patients Zimbabwe; tuberculosis preventive children Eswatini. Results highlight key findings. First, understanding crucial when designing services, providers sometimes underestimate behavioural barriers overestimate extent people motivated simply by benefits. Optimism often driven evidence showing high acceptability, preference structures intervention design, there important how plan utilize services. Second, trade-offs matter determining characteristics perceived – a strength DCE methodology. these help prioritize target. Finally, disentangling effect different service delivery models rethinking delivered. If designed better align with preferences, implementers ensure new desired economic outcomes. Conclusions These findings value approaches investigating providing must feed analyses. Incorporating DCEs inexpensive provides improving HTA.
